The Takapuna Rockshop opened on the Northshore in 1996 in central Takapuna before relocating in 2001 to its present site in Anzac street.
The Takapuna Rockshop is one of the most patronized of the Auckland Rockshop’s offering good parking and easy access to Auckland’s motorway on/off ramps.
The store has a comprehensive range of products and staff who are passionate about music and assisting customers in making informed decisions, and, there is KBB Music store right next door for all your classical needs.
The team prides themselves as specialists and love helping people get where they need to be and to achieve their musical dreams.
Their new venture is to create a music hub, a 'Rockshop Clubhouse', with in-store tuition rooms up and running later in 2017 open for all our locals to be a part of.

Shayne Tracey
Branch Manager
Shayne has been a Rockshop Manager since 2005 and has been in the music industry for 30 years.
He is a gigging muso playing guitar in bands every weekend, doing live sound, creating backing tracks for bands and writing original material for Midnight Manor.
Shayne has played in popular cover bands since the 90’s including Shark Attack, Tuxedo Rock, Planet Auck, Club Nerd, Hot Property, The CoverUp, and currently with PartyRockersNZ.
Other than his musical passions, Shayne has a big heart for his family life. He has 4 great kids, and an amazing supportive wife who Shayne insists is the real “Boss”!
Shayne plays a PRS guitar through a Fender Deluxe amp, with a bunch of MXR and BOSS pedals. For Livesound, he uses a Makie mixer through Line 6 StageSource speakers, recording live gigs with a Roland R05 recorder.

Jacob Nansen
Assistant Branch Manager
Jacob has been with the Rockshop since 2009 & then joined the KBB Music family in 2012.
His passion for music started at church playing the piano at the age of 12. After developing a passion for the piano & other instruments, he started directing gospel choir groups and bands.
Jacob has played at countless events and just to name a few - Big Day Out, Parachute, Ragamuffin, Home-Grown, Auckland Christmas in the park, Winery festival, NZ Vodafone Music Awards. He’s been on lots of TV events such as the X factor backing band, Dancing with the stars and has appeared on number of Music Videos & TV/ Radio Shows.
He is currently the music director for Stan Walker, as well as his own band The Levites Session Band.
He’s worked and toured with a large number of artists such as Brooke Fraser, Daniel Beddingfield, Parson James, Vince Harder, Iva Lamkum, Nesian Mystic, Kimbra, Ginny Blackmore, Jessica Mauboy, and Aaradhna, just to name a few…
His Music Directing skills have landed him a few jobs, such as the Tribute for ‘Supergroove’ at the 2014 Vodafone NZ Music Awards feat Hollie Smith, Iva Lamkum, Ria Hall & Mc Tali - VNZMA mash up 2010 feat Stan Walker/Dane Rumble/ J.Williams, and other TV appearances.
Besides touring and appearing on big stages, he is also the keys player for a covers band ‘BeatCouncil’ that have a permanent residency every Friday nights at a very busy bar ‘The Sweatshop Brew Kitchen’ aka ‘Sales St Bar’ since 2012.
There is so much more to say, but with a lot of experience in the music industry, Jakes loves to share his knowledge and it really does encourage and empower a lot of customer’s, not just to buy from him, but the security of the dreams they have may just become real. Because after all we are here to sell dreams.
He currently plays: Roland Fantom X7, Roland RS-5, Nord Electro 5D, Gaia Sh01, Mainstage, King Korg Synth, Roland JDXI…. And many MANY more.
