Rockshop Bandquest

Rockshop Bandquest is a platform for the next generation of contemporary musicians to step out and perform in a supportive and encouraging competition format, with a focus on education, inspiration, and entertainment.

The idea behind Rockshop Bandquest is to encourage Primary and Intermediate aged kids onto the stage, teaching them performance skills and the importance of teamwork.

With 17 live events this year nationwide, as well as an online contest for bands in outlying regions, Rockshop Bandquest aims to provide a goal for young contemporary musicians to focus on, offer incentives for them, build their confidence, provide them with inspiration from their peers and support Music staff, highlighting the great work they do with their students.

Rockshop Bandquest is a Band Competition for bands (2-12 members) younger than Year 9, with everything performed live; no prerecorded or mechanically performed instruments /vocals.

Step 1 Get a band together from your school, fill out an entry form, (available April 2016), and post or fax it to us. (Due late July)

Step 2 Select and Start practicing two songs . You get 6 min to perform, so you will need to juggle things carefully to fit. You can join songs together in a medley if you wish. You can write your own songs too, if you want to, but its not compulsory. (There is an award for best original song)

Step 3 You perform at your closest Regional Final in August ( check the dates on the Regions page) or if your school is more than an hour away from the closest event, you can enter via video for the On-line Final. (Due 1st September)

Step 4 Footage of Winners (supplied by band) of each Regional Final, and the Online Final are posted on our website. The Judges will select the National Winner from this footage to be announced late September.

Step 5 We record and film the National winners!

You will be competing for a prize package from The Rockshop at each Final for your school music department.
