Dedicated Westpac rescue helicopter service

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter service provides a dedicated 24-hour, seven day a week service. This service often makes a life or death difference for thousands of New Zealanders.
A Westpac Rescue Helicopter is necessary when

a patient is very sick or badly injured  
-
medics think getting to hospital quickly will make a big difference  
-
an accident has occurred in a difficult location  
Westpac Rescue Helicopters are like a fully equipped intensive care unit in the sky. From a defibrillator for a premature baby to full life support systems, Westpac Rescue Helicopters are equipped to deal with any situation.
Rescue helicopter service and Westpac

Westpac was approached to sponsor the service by pioneer rescue helicopter pilot, the late Peter Button, in 1981.
Westpac is the naming rights sponsor of the Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch rescue helicopter services. We are an associate sponsor of the West Coast, Tauranga, Taupo, Palmerston North and Rotorua rescue helicopter trusts.
Combined, these services carry out over 3,000 rescues each year.

After six years the annual appeal has raised nearly $5.5 million for Rescue Helicopters in New Zealand.
