Rockshop offers both Click & Collect and Delivery. For Click & Collect - you can select from any one of our 30+ stores nationwide to collect your order from. If the music gear you have selected is not currently in stock at the branch of your choice, we will do our best to get it there as soon as possible. We will contact you when your order is ready for collection, photo ID will be required for collection. For Delivery - once your order has been confirmed and the goods are packed ready for pick up by the freight company, we will forward the track and trace details to you. Most orders will be sent by Courier Post and deliveries are made on weekdays between 8am and 5pm, you will need to sign for your delivery. If you require delivery by a certain date, please add a comment in the comments section on the order form.

If you’re unable to visit us in-store, you can shop our full range of musical instruments and music production equipment online and we will deliver your gear directly to you.

Under normal circumstances, you can either visit your nearest Rockshop store or place an order online. In the current climate, we’re unfortunately unable to welcome customers in our shops but we are able to offer a click-and-collect service: just order and pay for the studio recording equipment you need online and we’ll get it ready for you to pick up. If you want to order the gear you need online and have it delivered to your home or business address in New Zealand, you can create an account with us in just a couple of minutes. Once you’ve done that, you can order whatever music recording equipment you want. When you reach the checkout stage, you can pay by credit/debit card or bank transfer, or choose to apply for finance if you would like to spread the cost of buying expensive pro audio equipment over a period of time. We also offer Zip Pay for shorter-term financing.

If you want to buy recording equipment for your first home studio, you don’t need to spend a fortune. Rather than buying every single gadget that catches your eye, we recommend starting with a bare-bones setup and only adding new equipment when you really need it. The equipment you need will depend on what you’re recording but whatever type of music you’re playing and recording, you’ll definitely need the following: DAW – A Digital Audio Workstation that lets you record, edit and mix. Audio Interface – This is what connects your guitar, bass, keyboard etc. to your computer. Microphones – You’ll need reasonable quality microphones for vocals, and for miking up speaker cabs if you want to try old-school recording methods. Headphones – When you’re laying down new tracks, a decent set of headphones is essential. Studio monitors – Some people mix using headphones but affordable studio monitors are preferable. Cables – You’ll need some quality XLR cables for your monitors and microphones. Once you gain more experience, you might find you want to buy many more accessories but the above is more than enough to get you started.
