THE MATON CUSTOM SHOP FLAT PICKER
"So many players and shop guys want to pass on their ideas and love for so many different styles of guitar and often you stumble across a consistent theme…"
When I am developing ideas for Custom Shop models, my voyages of discovery lead me in so many directions. Stores, players, music and passion for Acoustic Guitars are always on the agenda and there is plenty to find, play and inspire. So many players and shop guys want to pass on their ideas and love for so many different styles of guitar and often you stumble across a consistent theme…
The Flat Picker by The Maton Custom Shop was a very basic choice to make. Create a Simple and Elegant straight up Dreadnought that could appeal to a variety of players from Bluegrass pickers to a home studio Muso who wants a guitar with plenty of Voice. This Custom Shop Model is a combination of Classic Looks, Classic Tones and Classic Timbers. The European Spruce Top and Indian Rosewood back and sides are a fundamental combination for such a guitar. It had to be Bass heavy with thick midrange tones and piercing trebles. A Classic Mahogany One Piece neck adds to the big sound and lovers of the Classic Flat top acoustic guitar will not be disappointed. Just think Doc Watson or Tony Rice and you will be at home with the Flatpicker. Strummed in a song or Ragtime classic, the Flatpicker has been one of my favourite journeys as a Luthier.
