Equal parts Jazz and Precision, this bass sports an alder P bass body with a nitro lacquer finish. The neck is a quartersawn '60's U-shaped J bass neck with a round-laminated rosewood board. Between the shape, the nitro lacquer finish, the 7.25" radius and the light relicing, it's one of the most comfortable new bass necks I've played. The electronics take you back to P bass land - early 60's P bass land, to be exact. There's a single Custom Shop '63 Hand-Wound Precision Bass pickup with a removable pickup cover. The hardware doesn't act like it's from the early 60's, though. It's some of the most reliable stuff the Custom Shop has to offer: a string-through-body RSD bridge, American Deluxe tuning machines, and Schaller strap locks. In short, it's vintage-vibed in all the spots it needs to be, and totally new in all the spots it needs to be. For a lot of players, that's the perfect formula for an all-purpose bass.
