Guitarist/lead singer wanted for existing group
“Good Grief” has been a well-established 4-piece band of experienced, skilled and mature musicians playing popular rock classic from recent decades for some years.
Unfortunately our singer-guitarist has had to retire due to health reasons and we are seeking a replacement.
A new person will have to have a good singing voice which will be complemented by another band member providing backing singing and harmony roles. We like to do a wide range of tunes from a range of artists including some semi ballad style numbers such Every Breath You Take and Message to my Girl, through mid-range numbers such as Sorrow, Pretty Woman or Look Through Any Window, to harder rock classics such as Gimme Some Loving, Are You old Enough, Listen to the Music, Johnny B. Goode etc.
As a minimum the new person will need to be competent player of rhythm guitar and preferably be able to do some lead solo work such as the introductory riff for Long Tall Women, April Sun in Cuba, Black Magic Woman. We also currently do some old classics such as Runaway, Another Brick in the Wall and Love Potion No 9.
The group consists of Drums, Bass and Synthesizer/Keyboard. We have good gear including a sound system with fold-backs and a lighting rig. We operate on a fairly democratic basis with every person taking turns to choose tunes. While we have a current repertoire of about 90 tunes, we expect to learn and play tunes chosen by the new person. We would expect that the new person would have to supply their own microphone.
We usually practice once a week on a day and time to suit all parties – working our way around one shift worker working non-traditional hours and days. We usually practice in a room in the Prebbleton area where we can leave equipment set up. We aim to have 1-2 gigs per month.
We would like to hear from anyone interested in this position.
